The Cave

Surprise! I hope you are in the mood for something a little different today. Today’s post is a watercolor study that I’ve been working on for a while. You may be wondering, “Josh, why are you posting a watercolor painting?” Well, because working with traditional media (watercolor, acrylic, oil paints, etc) takes TIME! Much more time than it usually takes we working on the Wacom in Photoshop to draw an Odd Quartet strip. That doesn’t answer the why. Here’s the why – I have a few other projects I would like to work on in addition to the weekly Odd Quartet comics and in order to work on those new projects I have to start practicing more with the tools that I want to make them with. Hence the watercolor study. Hopefully, as I get more familiar with the different techniques that watercolor uses, I will also get faster. Fast enough to be able to work on both projects at the same time. Woo! However, in music terms my watercolor skills are about the same level as a beginning band student. I should get back to practicing. Odd Quartet will be back to it’s normal comics on Tuesday. Thanks!
