Meanwhile in Marching Band

I have always wondered how hot it gets during marching band. Well, with summer in full force, I grabbed our barbeque thermometer and headed outside to find out. The results were amazing! Not only was the grass anywhere from 104-124 F, but any concrete or stonework surface was above 150 F. I didn’t get a chance to try it out on asphalt but I would imagine it would be even hotter. So, the moral of the story is…drink plenty of water during marching band so you don’t get dehydrated, and rest in the shade if you can find it.

PS – these measurements were taken at 6pm.
