Night Ships

This is a bigger problem at larger music schools. However, there is an easy way to combat this. Be a good practice building citizen! Say hello to other people (especially people that are not in your department or who play other instruments). You’d be surprised by how many friendships begin with a simple “hello”. Another good idea is to bring food to your fellow students stuck in the practice building. Cookies from the cafeteria can go a long way to making new friends. You never know, the person practicing next to you could be your next accompanist, they could be in your section in the next ensemble you play in, or they could be your next best friend.
