Cell-O

Today’s comic was inspired by this piece of news from this past week. Now, I can understand that it is hard to fly with a cello, but to call that instrument a “security risk” doesn’t make much sense to me. That story short circuits my brain every time I think about it.

Traveling with instruments can be an ordeal in itself, especially when flying. There was a trip I took in high school with our percussion ensemble. We had to pack up some percussion hardware in a cardboard box because our other checked instrument case was over the weight limit. I wasn’t so worried about the hardware being ok (it was fairly durable). I was more worried that the cardboard box would disintegrate during transit and the equipment would be strewn about the baggage carousel by the time we arrived at our destination. Thankfully, the box survived the journey, and the equipment arrived in one piece.
